Canon Digital Rebel

1 If you can buy ANY other camera...do it. By Bryan Lemke on January 6, 2016 Style: Body Only (Black)|Package Type: Standard Packaging|Verified Purchase

There's a reason Canon updated this to the new version - this is horrible! The controls are NOT intuitive, the ability to do simple things (like turn off the flash) are so archaically done that we only take this out if it's an outside shot or every other camera and smart phone is gone. For the amount we spent on this, I can only say we got ripped off.

Canon makes great products, and the new version of this camera is no exception. This one, however, is barely good enough to be a backup cheap vlogging camera.

2 Not brand new. Refurbished... By Brooke on February 25, 2017 Style: Camera w/ Lens (Black)|Package Type: Standard Packaging|Verified Purchase

I bought this camera thinking it was going to be brand new. It is definitely a refurbished camera and I paid full price for it. I find that really disappointing so therefore you're getting a bad rating. I have scratches and scuffs on my camera and the pint is coming off on a part of it. I did not do this because I have no even used it enough to do that nor have I dropped it.

3 Ot A Film Camera!!! By Jordan Galle on September 10, 2012 Style: Body Only (Black)|Package Type: Standard Packaging|Verified Purchase

I was shopping for a decent DSLR film camera, and saw this camera. It says it is a DSLR, but to a film student, that can be very misleading. This is only a professional photography camera, which would be great if I only did photography. Again, I'm a film student; I make movies, not pictures/protraits/photography. Do not purchase this if you are into making films. This will be a waste of money for you.

4 May be a good product, but service is bad By A. Smith on December 19, 2007 Style: Camera w/ Lens (Black)|Package Type: Standard Packaging

The company that sells this camera is not customer friendly, they asked if you have any questions, or concerns, and when I did give a response my order was cancelled, they did not try to fix the problem at all, and I needed this for a Christmas gift for my daughter, I would not use this company, the product may be great, but the service is awful.

5 The camera was a birthday gift. When it arrived ... By Jim B on September 20, 2014 Style: Camera w/ Lens (Black)|Package Type: Standard Packaging|Verified Purchase

The camera was a birthday gift. When it arrived the memory card was missing and I had to go find one. The box and camera strap reaked of cigarettes. Had to get rid of them. Would have sent it back, but the birthday was too soon. The camera works, so two stars is fair and may be generous.

6 Truly and honestly....Not Worth IT!! By D sae on June 14, 2008 Style: Camera w/ Lens (Silver)|Package Type: Standard Packaging

Only if you are a point and shoot photographer who is making a jump from the crappy "put em in your pocket" no control for the photographer type of camera to this will you be happy with this camera and then only if you keep using the automatic function. If you have used any of the upper class point and shoots (e.g. Panasonic's FZ line) don't buy this camera. This thing only qualifies as an SLR, in my opinion, because you can put different lenses on it. Otherwise it is no better, if not worse, than most of the high end point and shoots these days.

7 I have taken some pictures and it does a wonderful job. Bad thing is By bbturbo12 on March 16, 2015 Style: Body Only (Black)|Package Type: Standard Packaging|Verified Purchase

Seller shipped fast, was kind when I had questions about it.The body was a little more worn than what was told. I have taken some pictures and it does a wonderful job. Bad thing is..It is so dirty inside it looks as if your looking through black shredded cotton fibers. It's very dirty and has to be taken to a pro to be cleaned.I feel the price could have been a little lower than what he asked for. All my Sigma lenses fit it well. My avatar converter works great on it too.For those who have Sigma lenses and wonder if they can be used with this Canon Rebel XT DSLR, the answer is "YES" It can be used. Nikon products WON"T.

8 Great Specs, but too small By Stephen Becker on November 17, 2005 Style: Body Only (Black)|Package Type: Standard Packaging|Verified Purchase

This is a really nice Digital SLR, but if you are upgrading from the original Digital Rebel be warned that this is a MUCH smaller body. It does not have the same high quality feel as the first and it is actually pretty hard to use if you have large hands. To me it is almost worth paying the $450 more for the 20d just to get the larger body.

9 Did I get a lemon? By Bonnie on August 11, 2015 Style: Camera w/ Lens (Black)|Package Type: Standard Packaging

When this camera works, it's fantastic. I purchased it to take photos of the animals in our local animal shelter. The Sports mode and burst functions work very well for this application. The problem is that the camera is unreliable. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

10 Major drawback in LCD screen By A. Villanueva on September 20, 2007 Style: Camera w/ Lens (Black)|Package Type: Standard Packaging - vlogging camera under 300

I was so excited to get this as my first SLR camera, it was very affordable and had so many features... however, I didn't realize that you could not use the LCD screen as a viewfinder. You have to look through the tiny viewfinder to see your picture before you take it. Then you can view the pictures taken via the LCD screen. Major drawback for me. I will be returning it and buying a different camera that allows for LCD viewfinder usage.
